How SynchedWord works
A Sunday service follow-along experience on every connected device.
Presenter
-
Create your free account
Presenters need an account to present to an audience. One presenter account controls what every connected device displays throughout the message. Start with Present at the top of the page.
-
Tell us where you are
Type your church's information below. It is shown in the banner on every connected device. You can update it later in Settings.
-
Choose your four-letter code
Congregants join the message you're presenting by scanning the displayed QR code, or by typing in its unique code. The first four characters are yours to create and are unique to you. Choose carefully — they can't be changed.
Codes never expire. Future watchers can view and follow along with messages.
-
Build the message
Tap + New sermon, then fill in the required information. Add your passages in the order of the sermon's flow. Bible verses can be found by typing a reference like John 3:16-21, or by tapping Pick.
-
Add your notes
Add clarification notes. Mark a note Private — only me to keep it visible only to you, the presenter. Notes not marked private are public.
Then choose how public notes appear: All at once with the passage, or Step by step — the passage first, then each note on its own tap of Next. Once it's added, each passage shows What your congregation sees, so you know exactly what will appear.
-
Present live
Tap Present live. A QR code and your service code appear — put them on the projector or in the bulletin. You'll see how many people are connected.
Before Sunday, open the code on your own phone to see exactly what the congregation will see.
-
Reveal as you preach
Each passage stays hidden until you get to it. Tap Reveal next — or press → or a presentation clicker — and every connected device jumps to it. ← steps back.
Need to fix something mid-sermon? Tap Pause to edit. Your congregation stays connected and sees “On hold”; tap Resume presenting and your changes appear for everyone, right where you left off.
-
After the service
Tap Stop presenting. The code keeps working for good, so anyone watching the recording later — on their own schedule — still gets every passage and note in order. Anything you add afterwards is marked Added for your listeners. Next week, Preach again with a new code copies a sermon to start from. Your sermon list shows how many people each one has reached — in the room and everyone who opened it since.
Forgot to stop? If you leave the live screen for an hour, the service ends by itself. If you're still there but nothing has changed for an hour, you'll be asked Still presenting? — tap Keep going, or it ends 10 minutes later.

Join the service
Scan the QR code on the screen with your phone's camera, or type the service code on the Follow page. Reading along needs no account and no app download.
Stay safe: SynchedWord never asks you to sign in just to follow a service. If a QR code takes you to a sign-in page, don't enter your password.
-
Follow along
When the presenter reaches a passage, it appears on your screen with the verses, and your device turns to it. Now marks where they are. Earlier passages stay, so you can scroll back. When the presenter shares a note, your page stays where you're reading — tap New note to see it.
-
Watching online?
Livestreams run a little behind the room. Choose how far behind yours is, and passages wait that long before they appear, so they line up with what you hear.
Watching later? Service codes never expire. Open a recorded sermon whenever suits you — that evening or months on — and every passage and note is there to follow.
-
Take your own notes
Create a free account and a notes box appears under every passage. Notes save as you type. They're private — the presenter can't read them, and nor can anyone else.
What needs an account: taking notes, saving sermons to History, and exporting your notes. Reading along never does.
-
Come back to it
With your account, History keeps every service you've joined, with your notes beside the passages, on any phone or computer you sign in on. Export my notes saves a copy.
-
Church not on SynchedWord?
Sign in and tap Take my own sermon notes to record it yourself: add each verse as the preacher turns to it and write under it. It sits in History with everything else.
-
Make it comfortable
Bigger text and high contrast are for everyone, no account needed — tap Settings (it says Sign in until you have an account). With an account you can also pick your preferred Bible translation. Open the Bible tab any time to read on your own.
Quick answers
Do I need an account to follow?
No. You can read every passage without one. An account is only for taking notes and keeping them.
Can the presenter see my notes?
No. Your notes are yours alone. The presenter sees only how many people are connected — not who.
Does a service code expire?
Never. A code from a bulletin or a recording keeps working years later — so people watching online can follow along whenever they watch.
Does it cost anything?
Following a service, taking notes and reading Scripture are free for everyone. SynchedWord is kept going — and ad-free — by people who believe in it.
